SURFING THE SOUTH PACIFIC COAST

DOMINICAL

The region’s anchor break, Dominical is a powerful, consistent beach break that draws surfers from around the world. Long, hollow walls peel across the sandbars, offering barrels and big drops for experienced surfers, while the expansive beach means there’s always room to spread out.

PLAY HERMOSA

Just north of Uvita, Playa Hermosa delivers a punchy, uncrowded beach break that fires on the right swell. At its southern end, the Achiote peak offers a defined take-off zone with long lefts and rights, making it one of the area’s most reliable and approachable waves.

CHAMAN

Framed by the famous Whale’s Tail reef, Chaman is a playful break offering mellow peaks that are perfect for cruising on a longboard or getting your first taste of Costa Rica’s surf. The setting—turquoise water backed by rainforest—makes every paddle-out unforgettable.

DOMINICALITO

Tucked just south of Dominical, this sheltered cove is a local favorite for its forgiving waves. On smaller swells it’s ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers, while larger swells bring fun, rippable peaks across the inside reef.
